Work Permits

Students / employees under 18 years of age in Indiana are under U. S.  Department of Labor work restrictions, and therefore, require an official work permit. Any student needing a work permit must first be hired by an employer.

If the employer is located in the State of Indiana, the employer themselves will obtain the work permit once you are hired.

If the employer is in the State of Ohio, the employer will give the student a work permit application form with their information filled out and signed. The student then completes their section, has a parent sign it, and takes the completed form to a high school in Ohio (usually Harrison HS), along with a form of ID showing their date of birth. That school will then issue the student an Ohio work permit.
